INSURANCE CONSIDERATIONS
Surgery and hospitalization may be very costly. Insurance companies generally cover procedures and drug therapies that meet the following criteria: the therapy is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the therapy is medically necessary to treat the person's condition. There are several steps that you need to consider before your surgery.

PLAN INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE PROCEDURE AND REHABILITATION
If you are having problems obtaining insurance coverage, there are options that you can try. If you can't afford to pay uncovered costs, consider applying for other insurance coverage and payment programs. If a claim is denied, the members support group at your insurance company or your hemophilia treatment center (HTC) may be able to help.

An important cost involved in surgical procedures is the cost of clotting factor products. The manufacturers or distributors of these products often have programs to help people with hemophilia A or B with inhibitors to get reimbursement.
